A brief overview of some important facets of
The Order of Nine Angles
The septenary system seeks to represent the juncture between the causal and acausal worlds that our psyche is a part of. The acausal world, in my opinion, seems to represent thought, and how it forms, given how acausal (occult) energy is attributed to all living beings. Magick is built around affecting the conscious and unconscious mind in different ways, as a means of altering how we view and interact with the world, similar to self-induced schizophrenia.
The Sevenfold Way seeks to elucidate the inner workings of our mind, e.g. help us logically define what makes us function, what makes us act, and how our mind does this. Beyond this, the 7FW guides its devout to “transcend” these functions, presumably by subverting what our brains tell us to do; doing what is difficult and uncomfortable, through Insight Rôles and the like.
O9A makes a point about esoteric thought being incompressible into exoteric forms, that it should not be standardized or put neatly into words. It emphasizes that oversimplification is a great crime against the esoteric structure of O9A, akin to shortening an Insight Rôle length to a month, removing its value, but who cares, I simplified it.
As for the praxis of O9A, it primarily consists of reestablishing Darwinian evolution of the human race by culling the weak and mundane. They view people who refuse to leave their comfort zone or align with O9A as weak, inconsequential, and more like meat puppets than actual human beings. Because of this idea, members of the Order of Nine Angles are violent, militaristic, and accept no physical or mental weakness within or without its circles. To achieve this state of superiority over the mundane, O9A members hone their resolve, physical strength, and creativity through a variety of trials, from self-harm to surviving in caves to massive hikes.
